About

Why Korea Local Guide exists

Most English-language Korea travel guides are written by people who visited once, or who have not been here in years. Prices change. Restaurants close. Festivals move. A guide written abroad cannot keep up.

This site is different. It is run from inside Korea, by someone who can actually visit, photograph, and verify the places before writing about them. The goal is simple: give travelers and Korea fans the most current, ground-truth information available in English.

What you will find here

  • Real-time festival and event coverage — with this year’s dates, prices, and what changed from last year, verified on-site.
  • New openings and closures — cafes, shops, and attractions worth knowing about, often before they show up in English guidebooks.
  • Honest, current pricing — what things actually cost in 2026, not what the internet said in 2019.
  • Korean perspective in English — what locals actually think about the places foreign travelers go.

Editorial standard

Every article includes original photos, first-hand observations, or curated insight from Korean-language sources. AI is used as a writing assistant for clarity and structure, never as a substitute for going somewhere and seeing it.
